I saw it once
heaven
once is enough.
Slouched, back
braced against a
friend's door, I saw
the night pool
around the street
lights.
But above, O
above, the stars
swam refulgent
before my eyes.
Opening, petal
by petal, the
celestial rose,
my heart drawn
to it's heart.
Beauty, the beginning
and the beginning and
the beginning, unending.
Here have I
sat down the echo
of the dwindling
years, rapt
to that first
annunciation.
Come
wordless, divine.
Come, beauty.
I seek no other face but
thine.
